The scale at a greengrocer or a deli counter prints a twelve or thirteen digit barcode onto the label. The first two digits are the prefix, the next five are the product code and the five after that are the quantity. TEON Perakende reads the barcode against this structure, so the cashier does not have to key in the weight.
Out of the box, barcodes starting with 27 and 29 are read as units and those starting with 28 as kilograms. If your scale prints a different prefix, you change it in the retail settings. When the prefix is defined as a weight prefix, the quantity is divided by a thousand, so 01250 becomes 1.250 kg. If no prefix is defined at all, the program looks at the product’s unit instead and divides when the unit is KG.
The full barcode that was scanned is written onto the line, and the line carries a mark saying it came from a scale barcode. When the receipt is reviewed later, that is the answer to “where did this 1.250 kg come from”. A product whose barcode is unknown can be found by typing its name into the same box.
